The Legend of Stray Pirate

Long ago, the fearless crew
of the notorious ship

At the center of Stray Pirate is a dog named Sarge.  A real dog with a bigger-than-life personality.  Sarge is more than a mascot; he’s the inspiration behind it all.  Stray Pirate is a celebration of the timeless connection between man and dog. It’s a relationship rooted in loyalty, love, and unspoken understanding—something that’s been cherished for centuries and still resonates today.

A DREADFUL CURSE

While traversing the Caribbean, a sudden change of the wind carried a siren’s song to the Howling Shadow. The crew, lured by the mysterious melody, altered course, dropping anchor outside an enchanted grotto. Sarge commanded his crew forward the promise of untold riches driving them deeper into the unknown. The crew pressed ahead until the narrow passage opened into a dazzling trove of unimaginable bounty.  At its center was the crown jewel, The Bone of Eternal Sustenance! As Sarge and his crew seized the treasure, a malevolent wind swept around the pirates and transformed them into a muttley crew of snarling dogs, their human forms forever lost. Sarge and his crew made a hasty retreat and drew up their anchor, leaving the alluring grotto. Now to be known as the Stray Pirates, the barking buccaneers sailed forth, their haunting howls echoing across the seven seas.

Sailors around the globe whispered the tale of the Howling Shadow and her cursed crew of canines. They became a harbinger of misfortune to anyone reputed to possess the cure to their accursed perdition. They plundered ancient tomes, concealed caves, troubled towns, and lost lagoons in their desperate quest to break the spell. Days became decades, but their spirits never faltered as they scoured the endless horizon.  The Howling Shadow and its crew met their fate during an enraged battle on the high seas.  Cannons from an enemy ship unleashed their fury, blasting a mighty hole in the side of the Howling Shadow, where she ultimately found her resting place at the bottom of the sea.

 While feared and pitied, the hexed hounds forged a bond stronger than any enchantment. Along their journey, they found solace on their four-legged forms and discovered the true treasure lay not in riches, but in unyielding loyalty and camaraderie. So, the next time you cross paths with a lone four-legged friend…

Sarge “The Terrible”; was the feared and respected captain of The Howling Shadow, known for his iron will and merciless tactics on the high seas. He led his crew with an iron fist, plundering ships and coastal towns alike in search of riches. Sarge’s thirst for wealth was insatiable, driving him to take ever greater risks in pursuit of treasure. However, his relentless pursuit of riches eventually led to his downfall. In a fierce battle with an opposing ship, The Howling Shadow sank beneath the waves. The legend passed through the whispers of the jungle was that Sarge went down with the ship, which would be a fitting end for a fearsome captain… or did he?

Tito “Steady Paw” was the loyal boatswain of The Howling Shadow, responsible for maintaining the ship and ensuring its smooth operation. He was known for his quick wit and nimble paws, able to repair sails and rigging with ease even in the midst of a storm. Tito’s skill with a blade was also legendary among the crew, earning him respect and admiration from his fellow pirates. Like many of his comrades, Tito fell victim to the curse while exploring the enchanted grotto. In his canine form, he retained his sharp intellect and resourcefulness, using his skills to help the Stray Pirates navigate the treacherous waters of their new existence. Tragically, Tito met his end before the final battle, succumbing to an illness that swept through the crew. His loss was deeply felt among the Stray Pirates, but his memory lived on in their hearts.

Ticker “True North” was the astute navigator of The Howling Shadow, responsible for plotting the ship’s course and steering her through treacherous waters. He possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of the stars and currents, able to navigate by the light of the moon alone on even the darkest nights. Ticker’s steady paw and calm demeanor inspired confidence in his fellow crewmates, guiding them safely through countless perils until going down with the Stray Pirates on the Howling Shadow. As a dog, Ticker’s keen sense of direction and unwavering determination continued to guide the Stray Pirates on their quest for freedom from the curse that bound them.

Steve “Boomstick” was the fierce gunner of The Howling Shadow, responsible for manning the ship’s cannons during battles with rival vessels. He had a keen eye and steady paw, able to strike targets with deadly accuracy even from a distance. Steve was a force to be reckoned with in combat, his booming laughter and booming cannons striking fear into the hearts of his enemies.  His transformation into a dog only added to his ferocity, as he continued to fight alongside his fellow Stray Pirates with unmatched determination and courage. In the final battle that sealed the fate of The Howling Shadow, Steve fought bravely until the end. As the ship went down, he stood by Sarge’s side, going down with the ship in a blaze of glory.

Gordita “Moves” was the spirited deckhand of The Howling Shadow, known for her agility and fearlessness in the face of danger. She was often found scaling the rigging or balancing precariously on the ship’s railings, her laughter ringing out over the roar of the waves. Gordita had a knack for finding hidden treasures and secret passages, her keen eyes spotting clues that eluded even the most seasoned pirates. Unfortunately, Gordita’s adventurous spirit led to her demise when she fell overboard during a fierce storm, her body lost to the depths below. Yet, as a canine, Gordita’s playful nature and sharp instincts proved invaluable to the Stray Pirates as they continued their quest for redemption.
